Rick Muchow in Korea, Journal 1
Rick Muchow Journals from Korea Trip, October 2001.
In spite of the Taliban attacks, we all had a safe trip and made it over to Korea just fine! I am going to try and score some pictures so you can see what is taking place here. Please pray for dry weather and security at the War Memorial tonight and for the next 3 days of concerts there. Everybody has been great and I look forward to the ministry and a safe return home. For more about the event, visit www.worshipalliance.com.

Best regards,
Rick M

Hey there!

Yesterday was Thursday in Korea and I did a concert with Bob Fitts at the 2nd Sanctuary. There were 500 college kids in attendance and Justo Almario from the team came and played with me. Afterwards the concert we went to grab a bite to eat (see below) and then to our sound check at the War Memorial.

The concert is going to be outdoors with a cast of over 400 people including a traditional percussion ensemble, choir, ballet dancers, and a traditional Korean instrumental ensemble, great Korean back-up singers, all in addition to the Tom Brooks All Star Band (Abe, Harry Kim, Justo, David Moyse, Paul Jackson Jr., Chester Thompson, Carl Albrechct, and of course Sheila E.). What a production to pull this all together!

They say any good church event involves food, so to digress for a minute. . . our Korean hosts from Pastor Cho's church took Bob Fitts and his wife Cathy, Ron Kenoly and his wife Tavita, Adland (Ron's pianist from Puerto Rico) and me to an incredible Korean Italian 5 course lunch. We had Potato Leak Soup, Garden Salad, Lasagna With Whole Potatoes inside (really good!) and a Prawn wrapped in a deep fried string (like the outside of an onion ring) on top of a delicious Chow Mein. I couldn't stay for the dessert, we were running late for sound check, but what amazing food!

I am going to journal everyday to try to capture some of these memories and share them with you.

Serving & Loving,

Rick Muchow

Wow! This is me and Sheila E. at the War Memorial in S. Korea. Did you know that the War Memorial is adjacent to a U.S. Marine Base? Tonight at the concert, we all lit candles and sang "Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace". These images are from the first night of rehearsals. Everyone was waiting for the setup to finish in order to begin vocal rehearsals. "Everyone" included about 500 choir members, so I picked up my guitar and went to the stairs of the War Memorial. The 500 voice youth choir sang "Don't Give Up" with me (in Korean)...it was very emotional.

See you soon,
RickM
